Audio CX Nationals 2008

Mom did great and got the silver medal in her group. I think she'll get the gold next year.
Oh, and my results: Masters 40-44, 3rd; Elite, 26th.

RRRRAAAAARR! Nerves. Hey, at least you showed up on time ;) And those are pretty good results even with the loss of focus.

Those high expectations can be a real problem - but is there really any other choice - go hard and go for the victory or podium or top 10 or ....
Bring on the new season,
John

My husband said, "Oh, yea, the winners take home medals and the losers say, just wait til next year." Well, we brought home medals, they are just not the color we wanted. So, "just wait til next year!!"

John says it well. I think what he's elluding to is that if you don't push yourself to the limits, sometimes that causes a mistake, you'll never know what it's like to win. Those who take the most chances with the fewest mistakes come out on top.

Get out there and just try.

P.S. To be a little more serious for a minute and respond to your audio comments. Remind yourself constantly that you are out there first to have fun and winning, should maybe be #5 on your list. Behind fun, fun, fun and beer (substitute food or money for beer if you want).
You are super competitive and work so much harder than most of us (waaaaaaaaaaaay more than me!), so it is natural to feel disappointment at any hick-up that comes along. But you are performing in rare air and most of us are pretty impressed by your efforts and success. You are competing with talented folks, mixing it up with the best. That is pretty cool. Don't afraid to enjoy that and revel in the accomplishments and hard work that brought you there. Very few can do what you do and diminishing it over mis-steps isn't worth it. Just keep doing what your doing but most of all keep having FUN!

Congrats on a great season, ladies. You've worked hard, hustled, and came away with the 2nd & 3rd place finishes. That means that you're ahead of all those behind you...but dadgum it, there's still that one or two who are ahead of you...and that's the difference between being OK and being satisfied. *S*

Competition is the stranger which can whet your appetite and drive you upward and onward toward your goal, but if you focus on others rather than yourself it will crush you with your comparisons. I think you've done a good job of making competition your ally. Keep hustling, its the hunt that's more exciting than the catch...You know that you can sit on the front porch with the big dogs, now it's just deciding who gets to sit on the top step with the most braggin' rights... *L*

And don't ever tell me that rodeo is crazier that bicylers...they got money in rodeo. *LOL*

Love ya both and I understand you disease.
