Cross Crazed

Like SDA, I'm cross crazy right now and he's got a good "What is 'cross" video posted, so I'm going to duplicate it here and emphasize what a great way it is to start your racing. Although challenging, the most hurt you're going to get in cross amounts to grass or mud stains, maybe a bruise. There sure isn't much in the way of road rash or anything like that. Plus, the environment is so focused on fun.

One good thing is if you crash it's easier on the body and bike. So you take more chances and the only consequence is time lost. To me not that exciting.

Give me the road. The factor of speed and pavement makes it just more thrilling. Adds an one more aspect to the game. A pack at 25+ mph and one wrong move and BAM. Not that I like crashing on pavement. Makes my heart beat just a bit faster and gets my adrenaline going. OH YEA!

Road?
For me it is something to be used to train on in preparation for CX or mtb racing.

Or to tour/travel an area by rather than by car.

I felt a rush of adrenaline watching that clip.

Cory, you're an easily excitable boy anyways when you watch videos.

i dunno marc, trebon took a pretty good shot falling off of his bike at nationals next year. granted hitting another rider head-on is a variable we don't often have to consider ...

Yea, that was weird. Kind of like Evil Knievil of cross crashes. The majority of the times it's just a minor fall.

Got to admit that course at Natz last year during the masters 40+ with snow and frozen ruts, not semi frozen, was painful. The 3 times I hit the " frozen ground" wasn't pleasant. The last time behind the finish was a doozy. Downhill with speed. Hit a frozen rut, like it could of been avoided or something, and POW! That didn't feel like cross after my left side cushioned (6% body fat) the fall. I limped around to the pit area like a wounded duck then bagged it.
